报告摘要:
Extensive research has been done on how supply chain should be structured and coordinated. Most research assumes risk neutrality. Most research assume a supply chain can be centralized or decentralized. In this talk, we will first review and discuss the scenarios where one or more firms aim to maximize the probability of achieving certain performance targets. Second, we will review and discuss the scenarios where multiple players in a supply chain belong to the same parent firm. Third, we will review and discuss the scenarios of partial centralization, where one firm partly own another firm in the same supply chain. In all these three directions, counter-intuitive results are derived. For example, when a supply chain’s firms maximize the probability of achieving their profit targets, a simple wholesale price contract may achieve supply chain coordination. For another example, a parent firm may strategically decentralize its internal supply chain when interacting with external firms.
